Qualification and expertise

    • Operational support and Grantee management: I have 18 years’ experience of working in the development sector, and I am playing managerial roles for 10-years in national and international organizations including International Disability Alliance (IDA), BlueLaw International, IMC Worldwide and Maxwell Stamp PLC. Currently I am managing two projects titled “Positioning OPDs as Equal Partners on Assistive Technologies” & “Boosting AT user Engagement and Knowledge, Globally and Locally” that are being implemented by IDA in collaboration with Global Disability Innovation Hub and ATScale. Earlier I successfully managed USAID`s Expanding Participation of People with Disabilities Program (2018-2020) and Community Legal Services program funded by DFID (now FCDO).

    • Strategic Planning and Inclusive budgeting & Programing:  I have proven experience of strategic planning, inclusive budgeting and programming, project cycle management and grantee management. I have mobilized stakeholders to advocate for CRPD Compliant budgeting and fostered discussion to allocate sufficient budget for reasonable accommodation. Based on my work experience I tremendously contributed to the technical paper “Applying CRPD standards to programmatic processes: A look at inclusive programming in practice (2022)” by the International Disability Alliance. I have contributed to strategic litigation program to make the laws work in Bangladesh.

    • Partnerships and Strategic Alliances: I have a proven track-record of building and managing partnerships and strategic alliances with OPDs, NGOs, INGOs, donors and UN agencies in Bangladesh. I contributed to formation of CRPD Platform-Bangladesh comprising of leading OPDs and CSOs of Bangladesh that submits parallel reports to the UN bodies including CRPD Committee. I also contributed to form National OPD Advisory Committee (NOAC) that intends to bring the OPD alliances under an umbrella OPD in Bangladesh.

    • Policy influencing and legal harmonization: I have proven skills in people centered advocacy and policy influencing. I contributed to the legal reforms in compliance with international treaty and conventions for the persons with disabilities, women, and children. I contributed to the drafting of bills including the Rights and Protection of Persons with Disabilities Act 2013, Children Act 2013, Domestic Violence Prevention and Protection Act, Anti-Human Trafficking Law, and Anti-Discrimination Law

    • International Advocacy: Drafted Alternative Report under Article 35 of the Convention on Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD). I participated in the 11th Pre-Sessional Working Group and 27th Session of the CRPD Committee at UN facilities, Geneva, Switzerland in 2019 and 2022 respectively, as team lead of Bangladesh Civil Society Delegation to support review of Bangladesh by the Committee on Convention on Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

    • Media Advocacy & Inclusive Communication: I have strong connection with print and electronic media and contributing to the national dailies regularly. I contributed to the capacity building of media activists to reduce negative analogy of disabilities. I supported making documents available in accessible formats i.e. braille, text to speech, audio (DAISY) and sign language video. Currently, I am coordinating publication of quarterly newsletter AT Digest.

    • Capacity Building and Empowerment of OPDs: I have facilitated hundreds of sessions on CRPD including sessions of Bridge CRPD-SDGs Training. I have supported OPDs including National Grassroots Disability Organization (NGDO) to update their legal documents including Constitution and safeguarding policies.

    • Research and Knowledge: Experienced in research methods, data collection tools and techniques, data analysis, conducting research on wide variety of legal and socio-legal issues including international human rights laws, international reporting mechanism, inclusive development, disability rights, inclusive employment, inclusive education, assistive technology, Agenda 2030, child rights and gender issues, worker’s right, cyber laws, right to information law, local governance, legal harmonization, and access to justice.

    • Team leads of a thematic group (formed by BRAC) on “Identifying the legal provisions that are inconsistent with the CRPD provision and causes disability-based discrimination” which was done for exploring recommendations for presenting in the Global Disability Summit held in 2018.

    • Coordinated pro-bono research advisory group formed of academics and legal professionals.
